What Do I Get When I Hire A Saxophonist For My Wedding?

Hiring a saxophone player for your wedding is a great choice and can elevate your reception, ceremony or late-night dance floor. Most saxophonists can be versatile and will have standard sets that they do for different situations.

Most saxophonists have a minimum charge for a booking and then will add on extras, depending on what you would like for your big day. There is a strong likelihood that you will save a fair bit of money by hiring your saxophonist for multiple parts of the day so think carefully about where you might use them effectively.

Nick Pike Sax goes out for a minimum of £375 for two 45 minute sets plus travel costs, charged at a very reasonable 25p per mile. These two 45 minute sets will have a break of anything from a few minutes to half an hour. The two sets are not split over multiple hours though - if you want to hire a saxophonist for an afternoon reception but also for your first dance and some evening dance floor time then that will count as two separate performances.

What a fair few clients do is hire Nick Pike Sax for two reception sets and then some extra playing during the ceremony or maybe for a cocktail hour followed by a couple of sets during the evening reception. Booking multiple parts of your event together can by very cost-effective for the client, as opposed to hiring multiple suppliers across the day.

Best parts of a wedding to hire a saxophonist

  • During your ceremony.

  • As you walk up and down the aisle.

  • During your afternoon drinks reception.

  • For the wedding breakfast entrance.

  • During your wedding breakfast.

  • During your cocktail hour.

  • For your first Dance.

  • For your evening reception on the dancefloor.

A generic non-refundable deposit of £100 is required to hold the date for your wedding with the balance being paid on the week leading up to your event. Make sure to talk with your saxophone player and get a final figure before going ahead - avoid hidden extras by clarifying fees upfront. It is better both for the client and the sax player!!
