Saxophone Wedding Entrance

Saxophone Wedding Entrance

When you enter your wedding breakfast, reception or even ceremony with your brand new partner, you want to make a splash. A statement that stamps your personality on the proceedings and that your guests can enjoy too.

A solo saxophone is an excellent way of both engaging your guests and getting them in a party mood whilst keeping things classy. Wedding saxophonists are also extremely versatile so they can play you some sweet love songs in the ceremony, some vibes Ibiza Sax during the drinks reception or cocktail hour and then get down and dirty with some pop on the dancefloor.

However you want to use your saxophonist, it is definitely worth considering using the sax player for your wedding entrance. Arguably more popular than the first dance (a trend at my gigs over the last year or so), it allows you to present you and your partner to your guests without having to do a dance which, if you’re the self-conscious type, is an excellent trade-off. The most effective one are having a sax player perform just before your entry into dinner to get the crowd riled up and frothing at the mouth to see their newly-married friends and family!

Whatever you walk into should represent you and be something that you love but some fantastic choices that I’ve performed in the past are:

This Will Be (An Everlasting Love) - Nat King Cole

Joyous, awesome soul with a fitting message that will get everyone moving in their seats!

Jurassic Park - John Williams

I performed this with a 9 year old girl playing violin (a niece) and it was one of the cutest things ever! You may not be a dinosaur connoisseur but a film theme that you found particularly moving as a child or a song from Disney film might work quite well!

Freed From Desire - Gala

This makes it onto every saxophone wedding list - high energy, sing along anthem, everyone knows it. Great choice all round!

(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher - Jackie Wilson

Another classic soul tune with high energy and an infectious groove!

If you aren’t sure what you might want for your wedding or whether your musical dreams for the day will work then I offer a free internet call consultation to discuss your plans, if you should want it.

Clients often use these calls to sound out their ideas and figure out whether or not they’re feasible - it is really useful for wedding couples who have only discussed their ideas with each other and maybe a venue to sound things out and having a third party person tell them ‘that’s an awesome idea!’ Can help a lot with anxiety when planning. Not to mention that it is always good to see a supplier in person, rather than just dealing with huge numbers of faceless and impersonal email addresses.

Pricing

I offer a saxophone wedding entrance performance as a £100 add-on to my standard performance set of 2x45 minute sets or 3x30 minute sets (£375) so for £475 (plus travel)

Other sax players will be a little cheaper or more expensive depending on location, experience or how busy they are but this is a good ballpark.

Service Area

I generally service the south of England but mainly service the South East, namely London (I’m based in the Dulwich/Forest Hill/Peckham area), Essex, Kent, Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire but I’m willing to travel further afield depending on the date and distance. I charge travel at 0.25p per mile if I have to be travelling for over an hour each way.

If you end up hiring a saxophonist to play your wedding entry, drinks reception and play in the evening with a DJ then they will often do a bit of a deal to help you out so it is worth asking if you think you might want to lay on the sax heavily on your evening.

Any saxophonist you book will come with their own PA (speaker system) and their own microphone so they will have the option of being self-contained for your reception, they’ll just need power.

Saxophone Wedding Entrances are excellent ways to show off your saxophonist to maximum advantage, get your guests engaging with the party atmosphere and to really put your stamp on the evening!
