As wedding season starts to slow down at the end of September, the saxophonists of the England start looking towards the bright lights of corporate events, culminating in the run of Christmas work parties.
Solo sax works really well for corporate function due to their versatility - sax can play background music and walk around the party, interacting with your guests and roaming the dance floor. Saxophone players are equally at home performing with your guests, dancing into the night.
Not all corporate parties are geared towards being a late night affair with lots of booze so it is worth thinking about when best to utilise your saxophonist. Many invite families or have corporate structures that maybe aren’t as forgiving as other companies for silly dancing or late night interpretive dance. If this is the case then saxophone is best used early on as a focal point for people to look at and listen to whilst they’re settling in and getting used to the vibe (or building up their dutch courage). Most players gear their setlist towards starting quiet and vibey with a build and lift towards the end, finishing on a high.
Prices for saxophonists to perform at corporate functions will vary the same way it will do for wedding but a lot of agencies will attach a much greater price to their quote. Nick Pike Sax charges the same as he would for a wedding (£375 for 2x45 minute sets or £500 for 3x45 mins) plus travel.
There is often also a small extra charge to cover the load in. This is not always the case but often corporate events take place in cities and have challenging parking or congestion charges plus restrictions on loading in times - you might often have to load from your vehicles particularly early and then pay for off-site parking. This will be brought up and taken into account in a quote though.
Having a saxophonist at your corporate event is a fantastic addition and is sure to wow your guests!
