In a previous post we talked about some of the most recognisable sax solos that you might want to hear at your wedding or party. Whether or not they would work for your party theme or the vibe of your wedding is up to you but they are definitely tunes that span several generations and are instantly recognisable.

This part.2 has some love songs featuring saxophone or tunes that work really well as a saxophone solo that might feature well in background music or at your wedding reception.

Just The Two Of Us by Grover Washington Jr. featuring Bill Withers. Originally written as an instrumental, this 1980s soul classic had lyrics written by Bill Withers and peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1981. It also won a Grammy Award for Best R&B song - it’s a great one to play on sax!

Moondance by Van Morrison. Van (who still has a busy touring schedule now) released Moondance in 1970 to critical acclaim. Featuring Van Morrison’s signature mix of soul, Jazz, pop and Irish folk influences, Moondance instantly captured audiences’ attention and became one of the more upbeat and enjoyable love songs of the era. Aside from being a pretty catchy tune, it also has pretty monstrous piano and saxophone solos in the latter half!

This Will Be (An Everlasting Love), performed by Natalie Cole was her debut single released in April 1975 and has become a wedding staple. Cole won a Grammy Award for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance that had previously been consistently won by Aretha Franklin, paving the way towards Natalie Cole winning a Grammy Aware for Best New Artist.

Marry You by Bruno Mars. A much more modern hit and somewhat on the nose as a wedding tune but does have Bruno Mars’ signature swagger and top-songwriting quality. It always goes down well and has an excellent hook making it a perfect singalong tune for your wedding! Whilst it doesn’t feature a saxophone, it works as a solo saxophone melody really well!
